Saturday, December 14 Forecast: Rain to start and end the weekend

Rain is set to return this weekend. And if you ask me, it will be a well-welcomed site. In the last 3 weeks, Springfield has officially picked up only 0.03".

This morning's round of rainfall is expected to wrap up by lunchtime. Drizzle may linger for a bit longer before the skies have time to fully clear. By sunset, clouds will be eroded away with temperatures in the 50s.

Do note the winds today will be breezy. Expected a constant 10-20mph wind with gusts that can push closer to 30.

Sunday is the pick day for the weekend. Sunshine to start the morning with temperatures climbing into the 60s for most. If you still need to put up any Christmas decorations this would be the time to cross it off your to-do list.

Moisture builds back into the region late Sunday night as another wave of thunderstorms will occur overnight into the start of Monday. The heaviest rain totals will occur off to the southeast. Thankfully, severe weather is not expected.

We hold on to mild temperatures for the start of the work week. A cold front sweeps in Wednesday returning us back to cool December weather.
