Semi-truck driver dies in Pike County, Mo. crash
A man driving a semi-truck died after a crash Wednesday evening in Pike County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
PIKE COUNTY, Mo. - A man driving a semi-truck died after a crash Wednesday evening in Pike County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
MSHP reports that the victim was 64 years old and a resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. His identity has been withheld.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 61 near PIke County Road 53.
Investigators say the semi-truck driver veered off the right side of the roadway, crossed a gravel road, and struck a ditch. He was airlifted to the hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.
MSHP Troop C, which covers much of the St. Louis region, is investigating the crash.
