Shannon County man drowns in Jacks Fork River

EMINENCE, Mo. — A man from Shannon County drowned in a river on Thursday, May 8.

According to a Missouri Highway Patrol (MSHP) drowning report, the incident occurred at around 1:36 p.m. when a 69-year-old man fell into the water of the Jacks Fork River at Alley Springs Campground.

The man was unable to resurface and was swept downstream by the current, the MSHP reports.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by Shannon County Deputy Coroner Alan Ford.

The MSHP reports that next of kin have been notified.

This is MSHP Troop G's third drowning for 2025, as compared to one drowning in 2024, the report states.
