JENNINGS, Mo. -- An early morning police chase wound through St. Louis County and city before ending in Jennings with one suspect in custody.

The pursuit began around 1:15 a.m. when police responded to reports of car break-ins at an apartment complex near Big Bend Boulevard and Interstate 44. The suspects fled toward a nearby cemetery, and Sunset Hills police spotted their white car, prompting the chase.

The chase lasted more than 30 minutes and covered several highways. It started on I-44 eastbound, continued through city streets, and transitioned to I-64. The pursuit ended just before 2 a.m. when the suspect’s car crashed on St. Cyr Drive in Jennings.

Multiple police departments, including Sunset Hills, Shrewsbury, St. Louis County, North County Police Cooperative, and Overland police, were involved. A K-9 unit was also deployed. At least one suspect was taken into custody, while two others may still be at large.

Officials say a Sunset Hills police vehicle may have been struck during the chase. No injuries have been reported.

Sunset Hills police have not yet released further details but may provide updates later today.
