We've been raided overnight by an Arctic cold front robbing us of our nice temperatures from Wednesday. This morning is in the 20s and teens with wind chills in the single digits. Conditions will not improve this afternoon with temperatures likely staying below freezing through the day.
The wind will die down overnight tonight allowing the still air to cool further. Tonight, we'll drop to the mid-to-upper teens. Friday will be better, but still chilly in the low 40s with winds returning to be out of the southwest.
The weekend comes with the promise of warmer weather. Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday should land in the mid-50s.
Sunday will come with a quick increase in cloud cover that could blunt the warmup. There will also be a risk of rain, mainly south of I-44 during the afternoon. Springfield hasn't measured 0.10" of rainfall since November 18, 17 days ago.
Monday is shaping up to be a transition day and may come with some clouds and cool temperatures before the next arrival of winter air on Tuesday.
