American Medical Response team donates to T.J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A local animal shelter in Springfield has received a donation from American Medical Response to help with their adoptions.
Wednesday was an exciting day for T.J. O'Connor and other animal shelters, as it was National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day, so it was the perfect day for the AMR to make its donation.
AMR told 22News that it all started this past winter with their road crews, which they said are all animal lovers. The crew decided to start a raffle to raise money for TJO.
"Our main interaction is with people, but we are with pets all of the time, dealing with the public, so it is great to be able to support them," said Kim D'Angelo, Operations Manager of AMR. "TJO is a great organization, and they support us on the road a lot, so it is great to give back to them."
While the crews raised the money and donations, AMR added on with treats, food, toys, and more. T.J. O'Connor cares for nearly 4,000 animals each year, mainly dogs and cats, but they say they occasionally get other types of critters as well.
