Whiting Farms Laundromat in Holyoke to celebrate grand opening

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being held for the grand opening of a laundromat in the former Kmart Plaza in Holyoke.

In a news release sent to 22News from the Greater Holyoke Chamber, the family-owned business, Whiting Farms Laundromat, opened its location offering high-capacity machines, a welcoming atmosphere, and a commitment to community support. Co-owners Kerry and Jorge have been determined for years to make a difference for Holyoke residents and business owners to provide those with large laundry needs with a comfortable and efficient experience.

“This is more than a business for us; it’s a dream come true,” said Kerry. “We wanted to give Holyoke a space that meets people where they are, whether it’s a mom juggling laundry for her family or someone using the bus stop steps from our door.”

The high-capacity washers and dryers can hold 3 to 12 loads per machine, inside a family-friendly atmosphere and a warm, welcoming environment. Kerry sent 22News photos with her daughter showcasing how big some of these dryers are.

During its grand opening event from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, in partnership with Superintendent Soto, Whiting Farms Laundromat will distribute laundry gift cards to local families in need.

“Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes people just need a little help,” Kerry said. “We’re thrilled that our laundromat is located right on the bus line and proud to do our part in easing the burden for local families.”

Whiting Farms Laundromat is located at 2259 Northampton Street in Holyoke and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. A customer appreciation party is being held on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. with prizes, giveaways, and Bomba radio, 104.5 FM.
