Chicago Fire Dept. employees overpower man attempting to rob them: police
The employees were able to overpower the suspect, police said.
CHICAGO (WGN) — An attempted robbery of two Chicago Fire Department employees was foiled early Monday morning, according to police.
According to Chicago police, the employees were responding to a call on South Throop Street just after 1:45 a.m. Monday when an unknown male approached them and told them he had a weapon.
The offender took an unknown amount of cash while still implying he had a weapon.
Police say the CFD employees were then able to overpower and detain the offender for responding officers.
The CFD employees sustained minor injuries during the incident, according to police, and the suspect was placed in custody. No weapon was found on him, after all, police say.
Detectives are now investigating the incident.
