Gradual warming trend and widespread rain for Saturday

ST. LOUIS -- Another cold start and clouds have increased across the region. A warm front across southern Missouri lifts north to just south of the I-70 corridor, which will allow for a bit of a warmup today.  Highs in the metro should reach the low 40s with warmer temperatures to near 50 in our southern counties. To the north, temperatures will again be colder in the mid 30s.

We stay dry today and this evening but rain spreads east into the region early Saturday morning reaching the metro potentially right around daybreak. Widespread rain and some thunder will continue through much of the day. Rainfall amounts of ½" to 1" are expected. Widespread rain will taper off from west to east through the afternoon, but scattered showers and drizzle will persist into Saturday evening and night.

Sunday looks like the pick day of the weekend with highs in the 50s and sunshine returning. Rain and thunder chances again increase Sunday night and Monday.
