EARTH CITY, Mo. - A judge has denied arbitration in the Los Angeles Rams' push to purchase the team's former training center in Earth City.
St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Jason Sengheiser denied a motion to compel arbitration on Wednesday, according to Missouri court records.
In October, the St. Louis Sports Authority filed a lawsuit that aims to put out of action the 1995 provision that would allow the LA Rams to purchase the facility located at 1 Athletic Drive, formerly known as Rams Park. The Rams have attempted to buy the facility for $1 as part of a quit claim deed transfer.
By denying the motion for abitration, the judge has cleared the way for the lawsuit to proceed in court, potentially delaying or complicating the Rams' efforts to acquire the facility.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch previously reported the training center’s attorney, Bob Blitz, did not dispute that the LA Rams had the right to purchase the facility for $1 if the lease for the facility had been terminated but the lease had actually just expired.
For now, the battle over the facility continues, with both sides - the Rams and St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Authority Complex - refusing to budge.
