Lambert Airport welcomes home air travelers for the holiday
The holiday travel season brought families together at St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Friday. Bad weather in other parts of the country created several delays on what is one of the busiest travel days of the year.
ST. LOUIS - The holiday travel season brought families together at St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Friday. Bad weather in other parts of the country created several delays on what is one of the busiest travel days of the year.
Travelers arriving from warmer climates changed wardrobes when greeted with freezing temperatures in St. Louis.
Rick Barnes returned from a cruise after wearing shorts on every day of his trip.
“It was beautiful,” he said.
“They said it feels like 18 (degrees),” Courtney Fondre, an air traveler arriving in St. Louis from Florida, said. “I’m not looking forward to going outside.”
Grace Mohs and Spencer Biggs experienced an unexpected reunion. The two were high school classmates in St. Louis. Both of them were on a flight from Burbank, California, to St. Louis.
“I’m on the plane in Los Angeles, and I got a text from his phone number,” Mohs said.
Biggs added, “We ran into each other at the airport and haven’t seen each other in 12 years."
Athena Tsopeis was also traveling from California to St. Louis for the holidays. She arrived without any delays.
“It was actually like the least amount of people I’ve seen at the airport in a really long time,” Tsopeis said.
Meghan Acheson was coming back to St. Louis for the holidays and experienced a slight delay from Atlanta.
“Delayed maybe 20 minutes, but nothing bad,” she said.
