MetroLink station at 8th & Pine reopens after months of renovations

ST. LOUIS -- The 8th & Pine MetroLink Station is officially reopening Monday (Dec. 16).

The 31-year-old station has undergone significant improvements, including new staircases, updated lighting and critical structural upgrades. Officials with Bi-State Development say these enhancements are designed to make the station safer and more accessible for everyone.

Riders can now use the 8th & Pine station to connect to key downtown destinations, such as Kiener Plaza. To welcome riders back, Metro Ambassadors will be on-site from 6:30-9 a.m. to greet passengers and thank them for their patience during the closure.

This station rehabilitation is part of Bi-State Development’s larger $2.5 billion investment into Metro Transit infrastructure. The projects aim to enhance the transit experience and position St. Louis for future economic growth—without requiring additional funding from city or county governments, according to Bi-State Development. Officials say these are "capital infrastructure investments" within Metro Transit.

Upgrades don’t stop here. Starting January 6, 2025 the Convention Center MetroLink Station will close temporarily for its own set of renovations. During this time, Metro Transit will provide shuttle services between the Civic Center and Convention Center stations to assist riders.

The 8th & Pine station had been closed since early April, and the project experienced several delays. Eight months later, the station is open once again.
