Motorcyclist dies from injuries suffered in Springfield crash from March

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Police say a man from Branson died on Saturday, May 3, from injuries sustained from an accident between his motorcycle and an SUV in late March.
According to the Springfield Police Department, the crash occurred on March 28, 2025, at 11:25 a.m. in the 2800 block of South Fort Avenue. There, a southbound 2004 Honda motorcycle driven by 41-year-old Thomas Smith struck a 2022 Chevy Equinox driven by 76-year-old Richard Weter of Springfield, which was attempting to make a left turn on northbound Fort.
Smith was immediately taken to the hospital. On May 3, the Greene County Medical Examiner told SPD that Smith had died.

This is the 8th motor vehicle accident and the 9th death from a motor vehicle accident in Springfield for 2025.
