Pittsfield to undergo street improvement projects throughout the week

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The city of Pittsfield is undergoing several street improvement projects throughout the week, resulting in temporary detours and parking bans.
Starting Monday, paving and curbing installation will begin on select streets in Pittsfield. From May 5 to May 8, crews will complete the first course of paving on Newell Street. On May 6, loam and seeds will be planted along Orlando Avenue.
On May 8, the first course of paving will be completed on Meadow Lane, and on May 9, curbing will be installed on Newell Street. From Monday to Friday, on-street parking for these streets will be prohibited during the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Pittsfield city officials stated that Berkshire Gas will be continuing to perform underground utility construction throughout the week, working at the following locations:
- East Street from Lyman Street to Merrill Road - alternate lane closures will be in place throughout the week.
- Holmes Road from Pomeroy Avenue to Williams Street - this street will be closed throughout the week.
Drivers are asked to follow appropriate detours and seek alternate routes as necessary, using caution and reducing speed. Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change, according to city officials.
The Pittsfield Mayor's Office encourages residents to follow the City Hall Facebook page for updates.
