CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A Christian County man has been charged following threats toward two elderly individuals on Saturday, August 9.

According to online court dockets, Jason Maloney, born 1980, of Sparta, has been charged with two counts of first-degree harassment and unlawful use of a weapon.
The probable cause statement says that officers responded to a residence after a report of a domestic incident on Saturday evening.
When officers arrived, the two individuals, ages 77 and 78, said Maloney had been living with them and had been drinking alcoholic beverages, the statement says.
The individuals said that around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, Maloney started getting agitated and began threatening to kill them. Maloney grabbed his semi-automatic SKS rifle with a bayonet and told them that if they tried to leave, he would kill them.
Maloney threatened that if law enforcement arrived at the residence, he would kill them as well.
One of the victims told law enforcement that she was afraid she was going to die and was terrified.
The two individuals fled to a nearby field away from the residence after the threats made by Maloney.
After law enforcement arrested Maloney, one of the victims showed where the man had used the rifle and bayonet to damage multiple doors and walls in the residence.
Maloney is currently in Christian County Jail with no bond and has a scheduled hearing for Sept. 2, 2025.
