SHELL KNOB, Mo. — Firefighters responded to a flipped-over boat dock around Discovery Bay after storms moved into the area on Tuesday, July 29.
According to a Central Crossing Fire Protection District (CCFPD) social media post, officials responded around 7:54 p.m. to a boat dock and multiple boats that flipped over in Shell Knob.
The post says that units quickly checked for any people in the water, as some reports indicated people nearby. No injuries have been reported at this time.
CCFPD says at least seven other docks have had cables broken or come loose. The department responded to three additional calls within an hour of each other.
Multiple trees were damaged or snapped due to the straight-line winds, the post says.
The fire department warns residents to seek shelter off the lake during any type of storm due to the risk of injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division, the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District and the Stone County Emergency Services assisted CCFPD with the response.
