BARRY COUNTY, Mo. — Three North Carolina individuals have been injured following an explosion on Take Rock Lake on Tuesday, August 12.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) boat report, an 18-year-old Monroe, North Carolina teen has been seriously injured following a boat explosion around 3:36 p.m. on Table Rock Lake at the Big M Marina, one mile east of Eagle Rock in Barry County on Tuesday.
MSHP says the incident occurred when a 41-year-old Monroe, North Carolina man attempted to start a 1987 Colbart boat with a 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl. The boat's motor exploded from gas fumes.
The three were transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The 14-year-old girl and the 41-year-old man were reported with moderate injuries.
The boat was left at the scene with moderate damage.
