Weekend storms causes damage across western Mass.

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - Severe weather swept through the region Saturday afternoon, causing widespread storm damage.
According to the MEMA Power Outage Map, thousands of residents were without power across the state. As of 7:50 PM, more than 11,000 people were affected.
The eastern parts of Hampshire and Hampden Counties experienced the most significant impact. The town of Ware had over 3,500 residents without electricity at its peak, while nearby Palmer reported just over 1,000 residents affected.
The Palmer Fire Department reported that Rondeau Road and River Street were closed off due to trees and power lines in the road. Multiple structures have been impacted by falling trees and debris. 22News crews in the area of Palmer and Ware Saturday night saw crews cleaning up debris and working to restore power. Ware Road was also closed near the Palmer Motorsports Park.
In Springfield, in the area of Court Street, heavy rain was seen falling just after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. On Delmore Street, residents said the storm damage caused temporary power outages. There was a reported transformer fire, along with a downed tree limb and utility pole. Springfield Police closed off parts of Wilbraham Road from Archie Street to Barrison Street due to downed power lines.
