Wood Turners raise money to fight breast cancer at Ozark Empire Fair's free admission day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Ozark Empire Fair held free admissions day today, allowing guests to enter with no entrance fee.

Among the many vendors present today were the Wood Turners of Southwest Missouri. They were selling small wooden tops, with all profits going to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.

They've already raised $16,000 this year, according to their president, Marian Chamberlain.

The wood turners also donate wooden bowls to Ozarks Food Harvest to sell. The profits from each bowl are used to help children facing hunger.

"I love working with the tools. I love working with the wood. But this is one of the best groups I've ever been a part of," said Chamberlain.

The Wood Turners say they're at the fair every year. This year's fair will be coming to an end this Saturday, Aug. 2.
