2025 USA Archery Target Nationals concludes in Springfield, will host again next year

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The 141st USA Archery Target Nationals concluded on Sunday, August 17, in Springfield, marking the first time the event was held at Betty & Bobby Allison Sports Town.

The championship attracted over 400 competitors from around the world, bringing significant attention to both the city and the sport of archery.

The economic impact of the USA Archery Championship on Springfield was substantial, with an estimated $1.35 million generated over the weekend.

"We've had people here all week singing hotels, dining, shopping," said General Manager at Allison Sports Town, Chris Martin. "So just a huge event for Springfield in our region as far as dollars coming into the city."

Rod Menzer, CEO of USA Archery, praised the welcoming nature of the Springfield community towards the competitors, highlighting the positive atmosphere created during the event.

According to Menzer, archery is one of the five most-viewed sports in the world, and he hopes events like these can expand interest in the sport.

Three-time champion and winner of the Barebow Senior Men's competition, Jeremiah Jones, who lives in Joplin, expressed his excitement about securing a win close to home. He shared his training regimen, which involved shooting multiple times a week for months leading up to the event.

For newcomers to the sport, he recommends they "seek out local guys that have been shooting a little bit and just stick with it."

He adds that finding local archery groups on social media is a good way to meet others with the same interest.

Stan Adams, Director of Sports Business Development for Springfield Sports, noted that hosting the championship could lead to more large-scale events in the city.

He emphasized Springfield's growing recognition on a national level and its potential to support niche sports.

"This is a sport that doesn't really get a lot of outside of the Olympic years," said Adams. "These people kind of show them a lot of love where a lot of these other cities probably thrown it to the wayside. It's kind of, 'oh, it's here, but it doesn't really matter.' Here, when you bring your sporting events to Springfield, the whole community buys into it, you are the number one thing here."

Martin tells Ozarks First that Allison Sports Town will also hold next year's USA Archery tournament.
