Events taking place all throughout western Massachusetts this weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A busy weekend ahead here in western Massachusetts.

A slew of events are happening in our area this weekend. At the Eastern State Exposition, the Big East Youth and Jackpot Cattle Show will bring young farmers from across the region to learn more about the industry. This free event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Then, the Amherst Railway Society hosted the Northeast Large Scale Train Show where train enthusiasts of all ages will be able to visit the Young Building at the Eastern States Exposition beginning on Saturday for displays, hands-on activities, and more. The show will run on Saturday and Sunday, with admission costing $12.

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will host "Variation & Virtuosity" in its last performance of the season Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Springfield Symphony Hall. The concert will feature Guest Conductor Marcelo Lehninger and Pianist Natasha Paremski and a program that spans Brazil, Russia and closes with Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 7. Tickets start at $25.

In Northampton, the third annual Hampshire Pride Parade will be held. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in Sheldon Field and make its wat down Route 9 and Main Street's downtown area to then disperse at the end of Crafts Avenue.

On Sunday, both American International College (AIC) and Bay Path University will host their Commencement ceremonies. At AIC, the Commencement ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the MassMutual Center, with Amie Parnes, senior political correspondent for The Hill covering national politics, delivering the Commencement address. Bay Path University’s 127th Commencement will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Carrie Burr, Chair of Bay Path’s Board of Trustees, as the Commencement speaker.
