Is it hotter than the sun outside? Wacky weather app bug says it is

(WBOY) — If you took a look at the weather widget on your Windows computer Wednesday afternoon, you may have noticed that the numbers were higher than normal for winter.

At around 5 p.m., users began to report that the widget, powered by msn.com, began showing temperatures ranging in the tens of thousands.

A computer at Nexstar's WBOY showed that the current conditions in Clarksburg, West Virginia, were 17002 degrees Fahrenheit and windy, a temperature about 7000 degrees hotter than the surface of the sun. It also said that it feels like 1753496500000000 degrees.

Multiple people in various parts of the country reported the bug on social media.

"The weather in Indianapolis according to MSN," one person wrote on X along with a photo displaying the temperature as 20146 degrees.

Another X user shared a video of the weather app showing conditions in Allentown, Pennsylvania, as 25887 degrees and cloudy. "Temperature gone wild," the user wrote.

Microsoft has yet to make a statement about the bug, but users should know that the exaggerated temperatures are not possible without wiping out life on Earth.

Contrary to what the app says, parts of West Virginia are under a blizzard warning and are expected to reach temperatures below 0 Wednesday evening.
