ST. LOUIS - You can certainly feel the hustle and bustle of St. Louis Lambert International Airport as travelers head out of town for the holidays. At Terminal 2, there’s been a steady stream of incoming and outgoing passengers.
According to TSA projections, it’s estimated that over 21,000 people will go through security in St. Louis. That number does not include anyone arriving in St. Louis or with connecting flights.
Other busy travel days will be the 26th, 27th, and 29th.
With a big storm system bringing snow to much of the northeast, that could cause some delays and travel headaches.
But it’s not just those trying to get out of town; there’s also been some very special arrivals.
It was hugs all around for the Leese family as mom, brothers, and cousins welcomed home their new soldier.
“We’re picking up my son, who’s coming home from the army for about two weeks. He gets leave. This was a complete shock, so we’re very excited we get this time with him,” mother Kristi Leese said.
“Very excited. Last time I saw him was October, I think,” his brother Campbell Leese added.
Another family welcomed dad home after eight months serving in Guam, away from his wife and two young children, Charlie and Baxter.
“He’s home for good. We are so happy to have him back. Especially, best present ever,” Lisa Knox said.
According to FlightAware, many airports in the northeast are experiencing many delays due to snow and low clouds. Some airports with particularly bad delays include JFK and Boston.
