Rain on the way for the holiday week

ST. LOUIS – Several rounds of rain are expected through the holiday week as a rather unsettled pattern begins to unfold starting Monday.

Early morning temperatures Monday will be roughly 10 degrees warmer than they were Sunday. Overcast skies will be the norm this week in between our chances for rain.

Our first chance of rain will be through the day Monday but will mainly be confined to areas of drizzle and not necessarily measurable rain. Lows on Monday night will be in the upper 30s, with the potential for developing patchy fog through Tuesday morning.

Christmas Eve will be cloudy with the chance of light rain showers developing after midday, with highs in the mid-40s. This wet weather trend continues overnight into Christmas morning, with lows in the low 40s.

It looks like the rain will taper off during the afternoon Christmas Day into Christmas night, so a short window of dry and quiet weather will accompany us until Thursday. Highs on Christmas Day will be in the mid-to-upper 40s before a better warmup arrives Thursday when we climb into the mid-50s.

Another shot for rain, this time a bit heavier and maybe brought on with a few thunderstorms, returns Thursday night. Scattered showers are expected on Friday and Saturday before becoming drier and milder for Sunday.
