Saturday, December 7th Forecast: Warm weekend with one hiccup

Well, I am sick of the cold. 8 of the last 9 nights have brought freezing temperatures our way. Thankfully, we are getting a much-needed break this weekend.

Sunny skies for today with temperatures flirting with the 60-degree mark. Winds can be a bit breezy at times, gusting 20-25 mph from the south.

Today is easily the pick day of the weekend. Temperatures will only be a couple of degrees colder on Sunday, however, we will be losing our sunny skies. Overcast skies will create an opportunity for rain by the afternoon.

Not everyone will be seeing the rainfall though. This is especially true for areas north of I-44. The heaviest rainfall is forecasted to occur in south-central Missouri and north-central Arkansas. Here 0.25-0.5 of rain will be possible. Totals drastically taper off the further north you go.

Given what I am seeing now, this will be our only chance of rain for the next week. Additionally, snowfall isn't expected to occur either.

Above-average temperatures stick around for Monday but a cold front returns a winter air mass by Tuesday. This will cause lows to plumet back into the lower 20s. With any luck, we will be able to dodge the temps in the teens this week.
