Tuesday, December 10 forecast: Much colder with snow flurries possible

Yesterday was one of those dreary December days. The good news is that the dreary feel will exit today, but it comes at the expense of our mild temperatures. Today will be colder with highs this afternoon in the upper 30s to low 40s. Skies become partly cloudy today and a breezy northwest wind will keep things chilly.

Our next Arctic cold front will arrive by Wednesday morning. The arctic blast will bring some clouds and there may even be a few snow flurries or light snow showers northeast of Springfield. Temperatures will only warm into the 30s on Wednesday with gusty northwest winds driving wind chills into the teens and 20s.

Thursday will begin cold in the teens and low 20s but will transition into a milder mode with a warm front lifting out of Arkansas. The day as a whole looks nice with a mix of sun and high clouds and temperatures climbing into the 40s and 50s.

Our next chance of rain is lining up for Friday night. Rain amounts will be scattered and generally less than a half inch. Rain may linger Saturday morning, but should be gone by midday.

Temperatures will be cool, but a little above normal for mid-December. The backend of the coming weekend should come with sunnier weather with another storm on track to bring clouds and a chance for showers by Monday.
