Heat Advisory and late summer Fassnight Pool schedule

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Greene County from Aug. 15–18.

To help residents stay cool and safe during these extreme temperatures, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board is providing several cooling center locations.

When staffing and facilities allow, the Park Board also aims to keep at least one outdoor pool open later during Heat Events, including:

  • Saturday, Aug. 16, Fassnight Pool, 1305 S. Main Ave., open 1-8 p.m.
  • Fassnight Pool is also open Sunday, Aug. 17, 1-6:30 p.m.

Because of school starting, all other outdoor pools are now closed for the season.

Fassnight Pool, however, reopens Saturday and Sundays only, Aug. 16-17, 23-24, 30-31, as well as Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1. The last day for swimming at Fassnight is the Labor Day Splash & Sizzle, with $1 admission all day or free with a canned food item, benefiting Ozarks Food Harvest.

Regular outdoor pool admission is $5 per youth and senior, $6 for adults, 1-5:30 p.m. Admission to all locations drops to $1, or free with a canned food donation, every day, 5:30-6:30 p.m., and that discount rate also extends to 8 p.m. when pools remain open late.

Tuesday, Sept. 2, is the annual Dog Swim at Fassnight Pool, 4-7 p.m. Registration and vaccination are required. Registration is $8, benefiting Cruse Dog Park. No humans allowed in the pool at Dog Swim.
