CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — The Humane Society of Missouri (HSM) has reported an animal rescue operation in Christian County for what the organization says is the biggest dog rescue in more than a decade.

According to a social media post, the HSM's Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued around 150 small dogs — including Shih Tzus and Chihuahuas — from a hoarder's property.
The post says it's clear the dogs are malnourished and are suffering from infestations and skin issues due to neglect.
"This is the largest dog rescue that we have seen in more than a decade," the HSM says. "These sweet souls have a long way to go, but we are going to be with them every step of the way."
The rescued dogs are being transported to HSM's Macklind headquarters in St. Louis to receive emergency veterinary care.

Ozarks First has reached out to HSM for more information.
