A media release from the Rolla Police Department stated that Richard Wiggins, 54, faces charges of trafficking/attempted trafficking of drugs in the first-degree and unlawful use of a weapon.

On July 30, the Rolla Area Drug Enforcement Task Force (R.A.D.E.) served a warrant at a hotel in the 1200 block of Kingshighway in Rolla. The Rolla SWAT team was called to breach the door and window after no one responded to knocking on the door.

Wiggins was found in the bathroom. Another man was also found in the hotel room, who identified himself as a friend of Wiggins. Both men were taken into custody.

During the search, investigators found quantities of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, controlled substance pills, drug paraphernalia, and two firearms.

The hotel manager told investigators Wiggins had been staying there for about six months.

Charges have not been filed for Wiggins' friend at the time of writing this article.

Wiggins is being held at the Phelps County Jail with a $250,000 bond.
