PITTSBURG, Mo. — Pittsburg police make an arrest in an overnight homicide investigation.
Kevin Hukill, 25, of Wichita, is being held in the Crawford County Jail without bond - on allegations of second-degree murder - interfering with law enforcement - and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in Crawford County on a previous drug charge.
Just before 11 o'clock last night - police responded to an apartment off South Elm Street for a report of a shooting.
When they arrived - they found Fedor Lee Warren Lomax, 29, of Pittsburg, shot. He was taken to the hospital - and later died.
Officers say Hukill ran from the scene to a home in the 300-block of East Park Street. They eventually obtained a search warrant - and say they learned Hukill was in the attic. He reportedly refused to come down, until a negotiator was able to get him to surrender.
He was taken into custody around 5:30 this morning.
