According to a post on the school district's Facebook page, a person associated with the Riverton School District has been diagnosed with whooping cough.
Whooping cough is an infection that affects the airways and can be easily spread from one person to another by coughing or sneezing.
Symptoms for whooping cough can develop within 21 days of exposure and resemble cold-like symptoms.
School officials are encouraging people to get vaccinated for whooping cough, and say anyone who thinks they've been exposed or may have whooping cough to contact a health official.
