SPRINGFIELD, MO - People with storm debris piles will be waiting even longer for a pickup by city crews.
Following the storms earlier this summer, the city scheduled a volunteer workday on July 24th. Community members collected branches and limbs and placed them at the curb. Public Works crews were then set to begin a citywide sweep, collecting and hauling off the limbs and branches.
The first round of the pick-up process, covering council Zone One, was set to begin August 11th, with the other segments of the city being focused on in subsequent weeks.
Now the city says the process won't begin until the week of September 11th. The dates for the other zones, through September, have not yet been announced.
The new start date will be nearly two and a half months after the June 29th storm hit.
Ozarks First asked the city why the pickup dates have changed again, and what the new pickup calendar looks like. We are still waiting to hear back and will pass along the new dates once they’re announced..
