Wilson's Creek National Battlefield tour road closing for preservation construction

REPUBLIC, Mo. — Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is closing some of its tour road due to construction this week.

According to a Wilson's Creek National Battlefield social media post, pavement preservation construction will be conducted this week from Wednesday, July 16, to Friday, July 18, on the tour road.

The national park says that vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians will be prohibited on the tour road during the construction.

The visitor center, museum and picnic area will remain open as the construction takes place this week. The visitor parking lot will be closed for 30 minutes after sunset on Tuesday, July 15, and will reopen at 9 a.m. on July 16.

The project is being completed through funding from the Great American Outdoors Act, which helps address maintenance and repairs for national parks in the U.S.
