Workers Take Part in May Day Rally in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Dozens of workers, students, and retirees took part in a May Day rally on Thursday.
The event started with a march from the United States Post Office in Springfield to City Hall.
The rally was put on by the Western MA area Labor Federation, Springfield No One Leaves, and Neighbor to Neighbor.
More than 300 people took part in the march. At the rally, people showed up with signs, protesting their top concerns like education, housing costs, workers' rights, and other issues.
Many protestors say they are feeling overwhelmed by the current administration's policies.
"I feel like the only way that we're going to overcome the present crisis is through unity and solidarity," says Judy Lewis.
"The other day, an old torn-up flag rolled up and onto my lawn, and I almost started crying because that is the state of our democracy right now," says a protester.
Organizers say people in the community should expect more protests shortly.
They say concerns are growing over President Trump's actions, and people want their voices to be heard.
