Cassville woman dies in Newton County crash
A 95-year-old woman from Cassville was killed and a man from Neosho was injured in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 60 near Neosho Monday night.
NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. -- A head-on crash near Neosho Monday night killed a 95-year-old woman from Cassville and injured a man from Neosho, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reports.
According to the crash report, the accident occurred on U.S. Highway 60 five miles west of Neosho just before 9 p.m., where an eastbound 2011 Ford Focus driven by the Cassville woman crossed into the center of the road and struck a westbound 2011 Dodge 3500 truck head-on.
The Cassville woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Newton County Coroner. The driver of the Dodge truck was taken to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin for moderate injuries.
This is the 73rd fatality in MSHP Troop D in 2025.
