Temperatures steadily rise this week

It's been a beautiful start to August so far, but that is slowly changing. Today will be close to 90° with a light southeast breeze and mostly sunny skies. A near-normal August day with tolerable humidity.

Tonight won't be as cool as recent nights. Temperatures will drop only into the upper 60s to near 70°, making for a milder morning on Wednesday. Wednesday itself will likely be our first day back into the 90s since cooling off at the end of July.

The rest of the week will feature a summer surge that will send highs into the mid-90s. Lows will also be warmer, but the heat won't come with excessive amounts of humidity.

The recent dry streak, which began in July, is likely to continue this week, in part due to the lower humidity. Our last rainfall in Springfield was in mid-July, but that may change this weekend.

There will be a bit of a pattern shift late in the weekend that will allow a cool front into the area. This should help focus moisture and rain chances, giving us a better shot at some much-needed rainfall.
