Monday, July 14 forecast: Classic summer shower setup this week

Happy Monday! Brief scattered rain showers yesterday plagued the Ozarks, and we'll continue to see this classic summer setup for afternoon showers this week.

Today will be a warm day, but a few degrees below average in the mid-80s. A light southeast breeze won't move much air around and the sun will be mixed with clouds. A few rain showers and thunderstorms are possible again in the afternoon, especially south of I-44.

Tonight will be near 70° with no rain expected overnight. Tuesday will be similar to today. Mid-80s in the afternoon, a light south breeze, and a few showers in the afternoon are possible. Many spots will stay dry between the two days.

We turn up the heat on Wednesday and into the weekend. Temperatures will climb back to near 90° to in the low 90s. This takes place thanks to high pressure building firmly over the Southeast US.

A cold front will make a run for Missouri on Thursday, but this high pressure may hold it at bay. Still, scattered rain and thunderstorm chances climb with this front on Thursday and on Friday. The high pressure and summer heat will win in the end, which will lead to a hot weekend.
