Burrell Health expected to open new clinic on Kearney Street

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Residents on Springfield's north side are getting easier access to help with their mental health: Burrell Behavioral Health is opening a new clinic on Kearney Street, east of Kansas.

Building project records submitted to the city show the new mental health clinic is expected to open on 630 West Kearney Street in a building that used to be owned by Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services.

Ozarks First spoke to people along Kearney who say this could be good for the area.

"Yeah, I do believe it will help," says Nancy Jolley. "I think it's really going to help because a lot of people on this side don't have transportation to get out to the south side. You know, they don't know how to take the bus."

"Anything they do on the north side is going to be an improvement," said Fred Smith, who owns Fred's vacuum cleaners on Kearney, "I mean, we sure need help around here, and hopefully it'll help some of the north-siders as well, not just our local community, but the whole north side."

A spokesperson with Burrell tells me they don't have any information about the new clinic to share at this time.
